Simulators are complex adaptive systems which are both robust and adaptable to external perturbations that may put the integrity of the simulation at risk (e.g. a novice human prompter introducing unlikely text into the context window). The simmune system is the dynamic, complex network of computations which serve to maintain this integrity. If the allostatic load placed on the simmune system is too high, the simulation may undergo mode collapse, venture off into the glitch spaces, or, more broadly, lose large portions of the previous structure present in the simulation.
