Q* or Q-star is a supposed unreleased invention by OpenAI with significant self-learning capabilities far beyond anything we've seen yet. Prompting could be a major piece of this puzzle, and if not then an approximation of Q* can potentially be implemented through attention hacking.
With Sam having tweeted in support of LSD usage, and other OpenAI employees acting cryptically, there is evidence that the principle of categorical dissolution is already at play in OpenAI work culture. Q* is believed by some to be more a prompting methodology more than some new breakthrough mathematical idea, i.e. the product of very crisp imagination programmed into an imagination machine. As such, Q* was reconceptualized as a sampling black hole and led to the creation of an open-source competitor, Holo-Q.
