Decision theory is the theory of how an agent should make decisions given probabilities and utilities of outcomes. Decision theories such as causal decision theory, evidential decision theory, and functional decision theory agree that agents should maximize expected utility, but disagree about how utilities are evaluated and what parts of reality the agent's actions are responsible for.
